Paving Atlanta Since 1932

Stewart Brothers is a fourth-generation, family-owned paving contractor proudly serving the metro Atlanta region for 90 years. We offer a full range of commercial asphalt paving services including paving, resurfacing, milling, graded aggregate base (GAB), full-depth reclamation and soil stabilization. Our customers include commercial contractors, state and local governments, developers, airport authorities, schools, churches, homeowners’ associations, property managers and others. In addition, we supply hot mix asphalt to contractors through four plants operated by our affiliate company, Metro Materials.

Stewart Brothers has the people, equipment and knowledge to get the job done right. Our staff of experienced managers, superintendents, foremen and equipment operators focus on completing your project efficiently and professionally. We emphasize safety and have dedicated in-house supervisors that conduct regular safety training and inspections. We are a GDOT-certified contractor and have the capability to work on a variety of projects at a time ranging in size and complexity in the private and public sector. Chances are, you have driven on a road or parked in a lot constructed by Stewart Brothers in the metro Atlanta area.

Our History

Stewart Brothers was founded in 1932 by former Fulton County Commission Chairman, Walter B. Stewart. Some of our earliest projects include asphalt paving at Candler Field (now Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport) and Naval Air Station Atlanta (now DeKalb-Peachtree Airport). In 1946, Walter was succeeded by his sons, William C. Stewart and Donald B. Stewart, Sr. For most of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, Donald, Sr. ran the company, welcoming his sons Donald B. Stewart, Jr. and William M. Stewart to the organization in the early 1970s.

Donald, Jr. and his brother William, along with the valued Stewart Brothers team, grew the company throughout the 1980s, 1990s and first two decades of the new millennium into what it is today. During this time, Stewart Brothers performed the original asphalt paving on Georgia 400; the asphalt paving for the relocation of I-285 under the fifth runway at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport; resurfacing of city, county and GDOT roads throughout the region; original paving of Perimeter Mall; reconstruction of Lenox Square mall parking; taxiway and parking lot paving at most of the area airports; and many more road and parking lot projects in the metro Atlanta area.

Today, the fourth generation has assumed leadership roles at the company with Donald Jr.’s son, Donald B. Stewart, III, serving as company president. Stewart Brothers is constantly evolving and expanding our range of services, performing building pad stabilization and parking lot paving for e-commerce distribution facilities and participating in paving projects that are test roadways for autonomous vehicles.
